Born in the Netherlands; a country known for its seafood, fine fresh food was an important part of  Dan Ketelaars' family and fresh fish held center stage.


After graduating from the Netherlands Hotelschool Heerlen, Dan enrolled in FIU in Miami and received his Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management and his MBA.


Dan launched his career at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto and continued to the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston. The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel food and beverage department was his next stop, followed with the opening of the Ritz Carlton in St.Louis, Missouri. While opening the Coto de Caza Golf & Raquet club as food and beverage director Dan began to dream of starting his own business. His experience in the upper echalons of the hospitality industry created a solid foundation of service, quality, loyalty and professionalism.


In February 1992 Danko Foods Inc. was born.


Anne Barnhoorn joined Danko Foods in 1999 and has been Dan’s right hand since. Anne hails from Newcastle, England and grew up with a close connection to the docks of the Northeastern English coast. She is very familiar with European fish and seafood and experienced in importing and distribution of perishables.
